The Colorado Cross Country Ski Association contracted 10 Pound Gorilla to expand and improve the effectiveness of their online marketing with focus on website redesign, search engine optimization and social media integration.
10 Pound Gorilla redesigned the entire graphic look of the website as well as introduced an effective interface for each member to create their member profile as well as post news, events, deal and snow condition updates. Utilizing DOTNetNuke and their own in house
social media solution, each member post is automatically pushed to their CCCSA facebook page.
10 Pound Gorilla's inclusion of Facebook posting resulted in nearly 7,000 post views in 9 months compared to 0 post views prior to the integration. They also saw an 68.75% increase in fans.
After the website redesign, 10 Pound Gorilla's next goal was to increase overall traffic and web page visits through
search engine optimization. The CCCSA had been performing well for words with Colorado in the
keyword phrase. However, 10 Pound Gorilla wanted them to start performing for words outside of Colorado, such as Cross Country and Nordic Skiing without having “Colorado” as a qualifier.
After just 7 months, the CCCSA's 10th best performing keyword phrase was “Cross County Skiing” while “Cross County” came in 16th and “Nordic skiing” 41st. All within the top 50, while prior to optimization, CCCSA was not indexed for any of these terms.
Overall the site saw a 17.5% increase in traffic and a 15.8% increase of USA internet users.
In addition, 10 Pound Gorilla set up a
email marketing campaign utilizing MailChimp. A template newsletter was designed and 5 newsletters were sent out over the winter season.
To date, the CCCSA has seen a 43% increase in their list size and an average open rate of 45.84% and an average click through rate of 12.2%. All of which are well above industry average.
In total, the Colorado Cross Country Ski Association online marketing efforts have been a huge success thanks to 10 Pound Gorilla.
