KEY FEATURES
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
Fully extensible and scalable — Suitable for a variety of projects -- from the smallest website to the largest corporate deployment. Internet or Intranet sites can be developed entirely with built-in DOT NET Nuke features, or can be augmented through third-party private assembly tools.
Clearly licensed under a BSD-style license — Software can be completely incorporated, modified, and adapted to personal/business use without having to worry about legalities.
Constantly evolving through real world trial — Open source nature of DOT NET Nuke allows programmers and webmasters to read, redistribute, and modify the source code, essentially evolving the software at a rapid pace. End-user suggestions result in quick improvements and enhancements to the software.
Simply efficient and manageable — DOT NET Nuke can support multiple portals off of one install. Divides administrative options between host level and individual portal level. It allows administrators to manage any number of sites, each with their own look and identity, all off of one hosting account.
|
|
Priority on security — Emphasis placed on validation, encryption, “bug” tracking and potential threats.
Fully customizable — Changes can be made to portals at all levels – from basic stylesheet elements like font type, color, and bullet points, to overall site appearance. New skins and module containers can be easily applied to the site with no repercussion on content.
Fully localized — Built-in multi-language localization features allow administrators worldwide to easily use and adapt DOT NET Nuke software for their own use.
User-friendly interface — Well-researched interface makes it easy for users to manage all aspects of their projects. Site wizards, help icons, and an intuitive user interface allow universal ease-of-operation.
Easy to access community support — With a dedicated core programming team, over 550,000 registered users, and a growing legion of third-party DOT NET Nuke developers, DOT NET Nuke hosters, and resellers, community support is always close-at-hand. |

CORE MODULES
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Announcements — The announcements module is
a basic module used for displaying news items on your site.
Blog — A collection of related modules, which comprise
all the working parts of a Blog. When you add the blog module
to a page, you actually add all of them (which you can choose to
delete or move).
Chat — This module is in development by the core
team and will be available in new version releases.
Contacts — List multiple contacts with role, phone,
and email information.
Documents — Presents a list of files
within DOT NET Nuke to be downloaded by the end user. Documents
can be stored within a DOT NET Nuke portal, or accessed from an
external website or portal. Access to documents can be secured
using the core role-based security from within DOT NET Nuke, including
"secure storage".
Events — Produces a display of upcoming events
as a list in chronological order or in calendar format. Events may
have additional information and links can be set to automatically
expire on a particular date, or re-occur by any specified number
of days, weeks, months or years.
FAQ — Allows you to create a list of questions
& answers. All questions are hyperlink buttons and will expand
when clicked on. Only one answer is displayed at any given time.
Feedback — A basic form to receive feedback from
visitors. The feedback is emailed to a user specified by the administrator.
Forum — A full forum with the ability to
moderate posts, send notifications, have users post threads, reply,
etc.
Help — A very useful tool for our clients. This
icon links you to an extensive help section based on your location
within your website.
IFrame — A browser feature, which allows you to
display content from another web site within a frame. Within the
content of DOT NET Nuke, the IFrame module allows the embedding
of an internal/external URL within the module. Current module features
support controlling width, height, title, border, and overflow scrolling.
|
|
Links — Designed to display user links in
several different formats and styles. Map — Using the Google Maps API, provides
the ability to pump any custom data into the Google Map in a number of unique
ways. Media — Currently it displays an image.
But, the plan is to scale the module up to a media module to display all
types of media. News — The ‘News Feeds (RSS)’
module, allows for the display of a ‘news feed’ on a DNN page.
Reports — A simple, but flexible, view on data from your
DOT NET Nuke Database. SuperUsers (aka "Host" users) can develop Reports
by building a SQL Query and visualizing it with one of the Visualizers built-in
to the module or a 3rd-party Visualizer. Repository
— Used to store a collection of files, images, links or text.
Store — Features include categories, products (list
and details), mini cart (with integrated controls), full shopping cart (including
multiple ship/bill to addresses/recipients), reviews (including a review
admin for approving reviews), order history (customer and admin viewable),
and provider-based gateways. Survey — A basic
survey module. Create your own questions. User can answer and see the percent
of responses for each answer. User Defined Table
—Allows the creation of a list of records with fields that can be specified
by the page admin interactively. Each field gets a dedicated type with various
additional options like dropdown selection, input validation, input help
text or formatting. The list can be displayed using default grid view or
XSL rendering, which can be done utilizing a standard XSL or creating a
custom xsl, which is supported by providing an HTML to XSL converter and
editor. Users Online — Presents information
about the users in your portal. Wiki — A wiki
is software that allows users to collaboratively create, edit, link, and
organize the content of a website, usually for reference material.
XML — It queries XML Data, transforms the XML data
using an XSL transformation, and returns the result back to the user. |

MANAGE SECURITY, MEMBERSHIP, & ROLES
|
 |
|
|
|
|
|
Security Roles and Protected Content — DOT NET Nuke allows administrators to define and assign roles for different user groups, such as: registered users, subscribers, content providers, affiliates, media, etc.
• Administrators can then grant access and editing rights for each group. When a user logs in to the website, they may access or edit only the information they are permitted to. These rights can be assigned to the entire website, a single page of the website, or even to an individual module on a specific page. Individual users may belong to more than one group, therefore may have access and editing rights to various secure areas of the portal.
• By instituting separate password protected areas throughout a portal, administrators can control who can access each area within the site or portal, whether the user be staff, members, resellers, or buyers.
Site Log — The site log can help administrators analyze both their portal users and those coming to view the site. This tool generates reports such as: detailed site log, page popularity, page views by day, page views by days of week, page views by hour, page views by month, user frequency, user registration by country, user registration by date.
|
|
Manage Vendors and Affiliates — Allows administrators to store contact information, advertising materials (banners, button ads), and statistical data on site "vendors" and affiliates. Manages start and end dates for ad campaigns, tracks impressions, and calculates cost per impression (CPM).
Bulk Email — The Bulk Email program installed with DOT NET Nuke lets administrators compose an email message, choose which users or group will receive the message, and then send the item.
Newsletter — As with the Bulk Email tool, the Newsletter module allows administrators to send a newsletter to a targeted group of users or members. However, the Newsletter is created and sent as an HTML document, and archived for future use.
Powerful Modules — On a DNN site, the Users Online module displays a variety of membership information, such as: membership details and people online (members & visitors.) A Feedback module can allow users and visitors to send messages to the administrator of the site. The User Accounts permits registered users to add, edit, or update their user account details. The Survey module allows users to complete online surveys. The Contacts module can render contact information for a group of people, such as a group or team.

|
|
|
|
DOT NET Nuke is hosted in a Windows environment on MS SQL servers. If hosted properly, DOT NET Nuke loads quickly for both low and high-speed connections.
DNN is built to be search engine friendly. Every page has
|
|
settings for page title, description and keywords (metatags) and under admin settings you can click a button to have DNN automatically generate a sitemap to Google’s specifications. |
